The *GOB has decided to use the judicial road to defend a series of spaces of high natural value that find loomed by the activities *extractives. The administrative road does not seem to work in front of any of the instances, in spite of that it is speaking even of zones protected by law.

The *lobby that *pressiona not to have any type of fetters to the growth of the quarries owes to be powerful, because neither the city councils neither the Insular Council have wanted do front. For if it did not suffice, the Balearic Government included some articles to the Law of Accompaniment of Budgets -a law that always uses to evade the public debate- because they remain directly declared of general interest, without public exhibition, the quarries at present more conflictive.

To *Menorca there are 91 quarries inventoried in the Flat Sectorial Director of Quarries. 23 Are in active and the 68 remaining -in these moments *inactives- also can go back to put in operation when interest. Of the 91, only two *disposen of the municipal licence, that is indispensable to can be in active. All a scandal of *permissivitat.

Some of these quarries are rubbing zones protected or areas of forest and marine of big interest. The case of Saint Bàrbara, to the municipality of *Alaior, is significant. Regardless, of surprising way, the City council and the Insular Council have transacted the modification of General Plan *urbanístic to give fit to the pretences of the promoters and have *desestimat the administrative resources that has presented the *GOB. And now, the Balearic Government includes it in the list to be declared of general interest. In this way, zones that does more than 14 years that everybody thought that they were proteges, find of nine gravely loomed, probably because the public powers do not dare to *enfrontar- to the strong economic interests that there is last of this controversy.

Since the *GOB *creim that it does indispensable try save the thousands of square metres that find suddenly affected for some political decisions that anybody expected. When the public powers do not answer, it is necessary to employ the judicial road. But this road needs some greater economic resources.
