For the *GOB, the subject of the water *potable is *prioritari, owed to the importance that has for the life and to the problematic that at present are looming this resource to our island.



After months of study and the *recopilació of collaborations of expert people, as well as of different social sectors, to finals of 2007 the *GOB presented the document of analysis and proposals on the situation of the sweet water to *Menorca. Here can obtain it:

The last studies that have seen the public light are putting on the table the severe problem that is facing *Menorca concerning his reservations of sweet water. Here can see the two maps of more interest.

On the one hand, what represents the marine intrusion (chlorides), derived of the excess of extractions that is causing that the sea go in and *salinitzi the aquifers. It is necessary *resaltar the worrisome panorama that offers the term of Citadel, as well as the *salinització that shows fringes it south of *Alaior, Brick and Saint Lluís. The origins of the nitrates can be diverse: zones *urbanitzades without sewerage, *abocaments of *depuradores that work of defective way, excess of *adobs chemists in the agriculture (so much in the professional and in the of *oci) and lack of *fosses septic in *finques *agràries intensive (with a lot of livestock that usually is massed).

In spite of the situation that have, still is acting with a lot of irresponsibility in the subject of the water:

• It follows *incentivant the model *agrari intensive of cow *frissona and big production (what forces to squeeze the lands of crop and pour a lot of *adob chemical)
• The Department of Resources *Hídrics (depending of the *Conselleria of Medium *Ambient of the Balearic Government), that is the competent authority in matter of water, goes *impulsar a Decree to increase every year the *regadius with clean water. This decree allow *incrementar every year in 100.000 *m3 the clean water destined to *regadius. The Territorial Plan Insular of *Menorca forbids the new *regadius if they are not of water debugged, but the Balearic Government never has done case alleging that the competition in matter of water is his.

The situation has reached a level of problems that do *inaplaçable a change of dynamic. A change where have to take part all the sector if all the citizenship.
